Kim Delaney is an American actress best known as the character detective Diane Russell in ABCs series NYPD Blue for which she received an Emmy Award. Her appearances are All My Children Philly CSI: Miami and Army Wives. Delaney was born the sole child of her mother who was a homemaker and an executive in the United Auto Workers. Delaney spent most of her childhood with 4 brothers. In childhood, Delaney dreamed about becoming a court reporter. Her modeling career began at the age of 14 and later landed commercial roles when she moved into New York. As a teenager, her first role as an actress came in the soap opera of 1980 All My Children. Since then Delaney has appeared in numerous TV dramas and films. The professional life she has had is more successful than her private life. The accomplished actor has had to battle alcoholism, as well as two marriages that failed. In 2005, she was denied the custody of her son.
